Selvaggio Blu in Sardinia – Adventure Trekking in the Supramonte of Baunei

Difficulty:

Selvaggio Blu in Sardinia is considered one of the most beautiful and adventurous treks in the Mediterranean. A spectacular itinerary along the wild coast of Baunei, in the heart of the Supramonte, where limestone cliffs drop straight into the sea and every stage becomes a complete experience of trekking, exploration and adventure.

This is not a classic hiking route. Selvaggio Blu crosses remote terrain, exposed passages, ancient shepherds’ paths and sections where rope manoeuvres are required. Between Mediterranean scrub, sea-view ridges, hidden coves and impressive limestone walls, the route follows one of the most fascinating and isolated stretches of coastline in Sardinia.

The experience combines trekking, easy climbing, abseil descents and bivouacs in wild natural settings. It is a demanding and immersive journey, where the sea is always present but never simply decorative: it accompanies the route, opens the horizon and becomes part of the adventure itself.

Best for

Selvaggio Blu is designed for well-trained hikers with good mountain experience and a strong spirit of adaptation.

The route requires good physical condition, confidence on exposed terrain and willingness to experience simple, essential nights in wild environments.

Program

  • Day 1 – Arrival in Sardinia and transfer to Baunei or Santa Maria Navarrese. Meet the Mountain Guide, equipment check and briefing on the route, logistics and safety aspects of the trek. Dinner and overnight stay.
  • Day 2 – Start of the Selvaggio Blu trek from the Pedra Longa area, entering the wild coastal landscape of Baunei. The route follows ancient shepherds’ paths, panoramic ledges and sections of Mediterranean scrub, with continuous views over the Gulf of Orosei. First bivouac in a natural setting.
  • Day 3 – The itinerary continues through increasingly remote terrain, with walking sections, exposed passages and short easy climbing sections. The landscape alternates between limestone walls, sea-view ridges and hidden corners of the Supramonte. Bivouac under the stars.
  • Day 4 – A more technical and adventurous stage, with rope sections and abseil descents that allow you to overcome the most complex passages of the route. The day offers some of the most spectacular views of the entire trek, suspended between cliffs and sea.
  • Day 5 – Continue along wild terrain and ancient routes used by shepherds, moving through an environment where the signs of human presence are rare and discreet. The route gradually approaches some of the most iconic coves of the Baunei coast.
  • Day 6 – Final trekking stage towards Cala Sisine or Cala Luna, depending on the chosen itinerary and conditions. The arrival by the sea marks the end of the traverse, after days of walking, climbing, adapting and living in close contact with nature. Transfer back to the base and overnight stay.
  • Day 7 – Breakfast and end of the experience. Return journey according to individual travel arrangements.
