Selvaggio Blu in Sardinia – Adventure Trekking in the Supramonte of Baunei

Difficulty:

Selvaggio Blu in Sardinia, along the spectacular Baunei coast and the Gulf of Orosei, is an experience that goes far beyond simply walking. It is a total immersion in the wild nature of the Supramonte: an intense journey combining adventure, simplicity and sharing, where every step becomes part of an authentic story made of sea, rock and silence.

This itinerary is considered one of the most fascinating and demanding treks in the Mediterranean: a sequence of suspended ledges, walls to overcome with easy climbing, abseil descents and passages on ancient iscala ‘e fustes, traditional wooden ladders once used by local shepherds. All of this takes place in a unique setting, among holm oak and juniper woods, deep gorges known as bacu, untouched coves, crystal-clear sea and unforgettable sunsets.

It is a little like your favourite dish: a delight for the palate and an immersive experience at the same time, a blend of flavours capable of engaging body, soul and mind. At its base are simple, authentic and local ingredients: adventure, essential living and sharing, perfectly mixed into the here and now.

Everything takes place with an essential approach: bivouacs under the stars and meals cooked over a campfire or on camping stoves, with the only support being food and water supplies arranged in advance by the Mountain Guide at each stage. The absence of support points, the impossibility of finding water along the route, the orientation difficulties, the rare signs of human presence and the mountaineering sections assisted by the guide all make this trek a unique and unforgettable experience.

Program

  • Day 1 – In the afternoon, meet the guide in Santa Maria Navarrese, a small village overlooking the sea and the gateway to Ogliastra. Settle into the hotel and take part in the first technical briefing, with equipment check and preparation for the itinerary. The day ends with dinner and overnight stay.
  • Day 2 – From the village, set off along an evocative trail suspended above the sea, gradually leading towards the imposing Pedra Longa monolith. Here there is time for a refreshing break, with the chance to swim and relax. In the afternoon, the walk resumes along one of the most iconic sections of the route: the famous ledge climbing towards Punta Giradili, a spectacular natural balcony over Ogliastra.
  • From here, continue to Monte Ginnirco, where the day ends with dinner and overnight bivouac in an essential and authentic environment.
  • Day 3 – From Ginnirco, continue towards the striking bacu of Portu Pedrosu and Portu Cuau, wild canyons opening towards the sea. Here a stop is a must: the crystal-clear water invites you to relax and immerse yourself in nature at its purest. In the afternoon, set off again towards Genne Mudregu, where the day ends with dinner and overnight bivouac in a remote and deeply wild setting.
  • Day 4 – The day begins with the ascent of Punta Salinas, opening onto an extraordinary view of the coast. The descent leads to one of Sardinia’s absolute icons: Cala Goloritzè, with its white beach and famous spire rising from the turquoise sea. After some time to relax and enjoy a refreshing swim, the route continues along a panoramic traverse to Cala Mariolu, listed in 2024 by The World’s 50 Best Beaches as the second most beautiful beach in the world and the first in Europe. Dinner and overnight bivouac.
  • Day 5 – An intense and fascinating day through some of the wildest landscapes in Ogliastra. The route crosses Bacu Mudaloro, Padenghe and Cala Biriola, with spectacular airy descents towards the sea and continuous changes of scenery between rock and water. The day once again ends in bivouac, immersed in the silence of nature.
  • Day 6 – The final high-level traverse leads to Cala Sisine, the final destination of the tour. Here the trek gives way to the sea: the return is by dinghy to Santa Maria Navarrese, with the chance to relive the entire route from the water. On arrival, hotel accommodation, aperitivo, dinner and celebrations to mark the end of the adventure.
  • Day 7 – Breakfast and farewells before departure, carrying with you the wild, intense landscapes of Selvaggio Blu and Ogliastra.
