Program

  • The day begins by meeting the guide in San Lorenzo in Banale, then travelling by jeep shuttle up Val d’Ambiez to Rifugio Cacciatore (1,820 m). From here, the approach continues on foot along the trail leading to the base of Cima d’Ambiez, where the route begins.
  • The ascent develops along the south side, on beautiful compact Dolomite rock, until reaching the summit of Cima d’Ambiez (3,013 m). The descent follows the opposite side, along the north face, through a series of abseils that gradually lead down towards Bocca d’Ambiez (2,885 m).
  • From here, continue along the Ferrata dell’Ideale, which leads to the glacier below, in an increasingly alpine and evocative environment, over mixed snow and ice terrain. The return then continues on trail back to Rifugio Cacciatore, where the loop ends. The day finishes with the jeep shuttle back down to the valley.
