Cresta Croce, also known as Punta Giovanni Paolo II, is one of the most rewarding high-mountain ridge traverses in the Adamello group. The route takes place in a wide, powerful alpine setting shaped by the Mandrone Glacier, with long views over the Adamello-Presanella massif and a constant sense of space, altitude and history.
The ascent is never extreme, but it is continuous and complete. It combines glacier travel, rocky sections and exposed ridge passages, making it an ideal objective for those who want to experience real mountaineering terrain with the support of a Mountain Guide.
Along the route, the mountain also tells an important story. The Cannone 149/G, a First World War artillery piece, and the large granite cross dedicated to Pope John Paul II make this itinerary not only a high-altitude adventure, but also a journey through memory, silence and the history of the Adamello.
A classic and meaningful ascent for anyone who wants to discover one of the most authentic corners of the Adamello, between glacier, rock, ridge and vast alpine landscapes.
