Arco and Lake Garda are one of the world’s most important destinations for sport and outdoor climbing. Known as a true “climbing mecca”, this unique area offers more than twenty kilometres of rock walls and thousands of routes spread across crags and mountains overlooking the lake.
The lines range from trad, sport, mixed and aid climbing to slabs, overhangs, cracks and corners. It is an extremely varied area, with difficulties for every level: from plaisir routes to big walls with more than one thousand metres of vertical development.
The particularly favourable climate, softened by Lake Garda, makes it possible to climb all year round. In winter, temperatures are mild, while in summer the area is cooled by the Ora del Garda, the characteristic local wind that blows every day during the central hours.
The vertical history of Arco began in 1972 with the first ascent of the Umberta Bertamini route on Colodri, marking the beginning of the development of an area now recognised internationally.
