Orizzonti Liberi in Val Breguzzo – Mountaineering Traverse and Bivouac among History and Ridges

Difficulty:

Orizzonti Liberi in Val Breguzzo is a unique mountaineering traverse in the mountains of western Trentino, between Val Breguzzo and the Adamello-Presanella group, just south of the Brenta Dolomites. A historic itinerary recently rediscovered and enhanced by the local community, it is now one of the most authentic, panoramic and wild experiences in the area.

The route combines adventure, historical memory and mountaineering, following old military traces from the First World War among exposed ridges, Austro-Hungarian positions, equipped passages and remote landscapes of extraordinary beauty. From the ridges of Cima Uzza to the equipped sections below Cima Valbona, all the way to the mountaineering ascent of Cop di Breguzzo, the symbolic summit of the entire alpine amphitheatre.

The experience becomes even more intense with a night in an open-air bivouac, immersed in a wild, silent setting among the pale walls of the Maggiasone basin and Passo del Frate.

The route then continues along the ridges of Cima Uzza (2,678 m) and Cima Valbona (2,889 m), among panoramic sections, exposed passages, equipped stretches and places that preserve important traces of the First World War. At the end of the day, reach the bivouac near Passo Boldone (2,700 m), where you spend the night at altitude.
  • Day 2 – After leaving the bivouac, the itinerary continues with the traverse towards Porte di Danerba (2,711 m), immersed in a spectacular high-mountain environment. The final ascent leads to Cop di Breguzzo (3,002 m), the symbolic summit of the whole valley and a privileged viewpoint over the Adamello-Presanella group.
From the summit, begin the descent towards Rifugio Trivena (1,650 m), then continue down to Ponte Pianone (1,230 m), where the hike ends. The final return includes collecting the car left at Malga d’Arnò.
