The Pisgana and Pisganino freeride descents at Passo del Tonale, between Trentino and the province of Brescia, are two truly epic itineraries at the foot of the Adamello Glacier. Pisgana is the more imposing and wild line: a real high-mountain descent, long and technical. Pisganino is its gentler variation, while still keeping an intense and rewarding character: less extreme, but still genuinely freeride.<\/p>\n
The descent starts from the Pisgana Glacier and continues through glacier terrain, wide valleys and adventurous mountain landscapes, descending Val Narcanello all the way to Ponte di Legno. The full itinerary offers around 2,600 metres of elevation loss, about two thirds of it on ungroomed terrain, with only around 500 metres of ascent using skins.<\/p>\n
Everything takes place in a grand and wild setting, in the heart of the Adamello massif, the largest glacier area in the Italian Alps, where the mountains still feel authentic and untouched. High-altitude access is made easier by the ski lifts, with the ascent from Passo Tonale to Passo Presena and an organised return from Ponte di Legno back to Passo del Tonale by gondola.<\/p>\n
